SOCPM Student Prayer Request

Greetings to all;

Thank you for your ongoing prayer for the men below;

I do ask that you take special note of Dean from the Sheridan Discipleship class which I've pasted directly below. His father is near death and I don't know anything that is more difficult to encounter for someone in prison than the death of a loved one and not being with the loved one and family.  Please pray that God will intervene in a way only God can and bring the comfort that Dean will need.

Dean – Pray for my family and myself, as my father is not good I was told “anytime now” Also prayers for my Aunt whom is battling cancer. Also pray for my work release.

I've also added the prayer request from John who is awaiting trial in Kendall County Jail who I've been dicipling one on one.

DADS NEEDED for our ROAD TEAMS!

JAIL-MAIL from Chaplain Tom

March 20, 2012

New Life Corrections Ministry
Wayside Cross Ministries

215 East New York Street
Aurora IL 60505

tbeatty@waysidecross.org

"ROAD TEAMS" TAKE OUR

"DADS' CLASSES"

TO THE MEN IN THE ILLINOIS PRISONS!

On April 16 & 17, we have ZERO Dads signed up to go to Robinson Prison.

We must have at least 5 men sign up before April 2, or we have to cancel.

On May 7 & 8, we have TWO Dads signed up to go to Big Muddy Prison.

We must have at least 3 more men sign up before April 23, or we have to cancel.

We need help!  We need more Dads!

(We need at least 5 Dads per prison.)

Inmates are coming to the "Dads' Classes" who would NEVER come to a Bible Study or a church service.  They come even when the "Dads' Classes" are advertised as BIBLE-BASED & CHRIST-CENTERED.  These men don't want their kids to follow in their footsteps!  Many of these men are hearing the Gospel for the first time in their lives!

If you cannot come to the Prisons with us, PLEASE pray that God will raise up Dads that can come.

On our Dads' Classes "Road Teams," we present the same Dads' Classes we have weekly in many local County Jails, but we present them in a 2-Day Seminar.  We  visit Prisons, where weekly classes simply are not an option for us.  Our purpose is to:

  • Bring the Gospel to the inmates in the context of fatherhood,
  • Spark an interest in the men to become better Dads, break the  generational cycle of crime, reduce recidivism, and
  • Spark an interest in the Prison Staff to welcome the year-long Malachi Dads' Program.

"Road Team" members lead small-group discussions between the classes, and may lead classes (your choice).  We pay our own expenses (travel, motel & some meals).  Class materials are provided.

We need more Dads for each of these upcoming dates!
