"WEEK 2" Chaplains Training Academy October 16 - 20, 2012 WEEK 1 was not a "pre-requisite."   WEEK 1 will be repeated - in 2013? ON APRIL 24th - 28th, we hosted WEEK 1 of the CHAPLAINS TRAINING ACADEMY.  It was attended by 13. THIS OCTOBER 16th - 20th, we'll host WEEK 2.  Subjects to be covered are:  Biblical Counseling, Evangelism, Inmate Culture and the Word, and Working With and Developing Volunteers. The Chaplains Training Academy will be held Tuesday - Friday, October 16 - 19, 6 - 10 PM, at New Covenant Bible Church, 4N780 Randall Road, St. Charles IL, and Saturday, October 20, 9 AM - 3:30 PM at Wayside Cross Ministries, in Aurora.  The Tues-Fri sessions are restricted to "paid registrants."  The Saturday session (in Aurora) is free, open to the public. NOTE FROM CHAPLAIN TOM:  I have worked with Rich Hines for many years, and have valued his training.  This EXCELLENT training is not just for Chaplains, but for all who are called to be Christ's ambassadors "behind bars," full-time or part-time, to all who want to be better-equipped to minister to inmates & correctional staff - in Bible Studies, One-on-One Counseling, Worship Services, evangelism and discipleship. CHAPLAINS TRAINING ACADEMY For many years Rich Hines (leader of our One-Day Seminars) received requests for more in depth chaplaincy training. That's one reason he produced the Jail Ministry Training Manual. But it became obvious we needed something more. Many unattached Chaplains are asking for training and for us to validate them as "Fit for Biblical Correctional Chaplaincy." Here's an example of a letter sent to Rich from a Chaplain from Ohio. "Do you offer training for Chaplains? I am called a Chaplain, but I'd like to be trained and certified or credentialed. ... I have been involved with the Jail and Juvenile ministry for about 3 years now and the Chaplaincy I am involved in does not offer any credentialed training. ...I have a true calling I'm just trying to get my credentials to fulfill what He has started in me." Starting in 2006, the Chaplains Training Academy (or, CTA) began. It will continue to take on new students in 2011-12, including a special arrangement for international students. Much of the study and course work will be done by distance learning and correspondence, but we will require 20 units of on site work at one or more of our campus locations. About the Academy The Chaplains Training Academy (CTA) has been established to serve Chaplains and trainees by providing training in biblical expertise, as well as a credential validating and sanctioning them as approved and fit for gospel ministry within a correctional facility. Upon satisfactory completion of a training session, a student will earn five units. More training sessions are held at different venues throughout the year. A CREDENTIAL will be given upon the completion of 20 units. This would normally take two years to earn. Next week September 7 will be the recognition ceremony for both Renewing Fatherhood and Discipleship 101 module 3.    Next week will be the recognition ceremony where the men will receive certificates and Bibles (a gift from Tyndale House). Refreshments have already been denied but I am planning to show the men a DVD 'Inmate Challenge' a panel of three inmates from Louisiana State Penitentiary (aka Angola) encouraging and calling on inmates to be the fathers and men God created them to be. Please pray that the DVD player and TV will be available and ready for the students to watch this awesome DVD and that a change of heart by administration to provide refreshments.   Pray for Dixon. The overall attendance remains a problem especially in Renewing Fatherhood. I'm not sure if it is related to passes not being issued, schedule conflicts or the hearts of the men are not open to the teachings. Please also pray that my children would choose to give me and seek reconciliation. 2 Cor. 13:14, Titus 2:11-15   Ronnie - Keep in prayer the prison health-care system that seems to be overwhelmed with too many requests wherefore some are not properly attended to pray for their attention.   Steve - Bless the families and loved ones with all those who are incarcerated across the country find it in your grace to grant them some relief and peace within their lives. Bless the instructor at his message of discipleship.   Modesto - Thank God for his love, forgiveness, grace, mercy, salvation and faithfulness towards us His children. Thank God for answering prayers concerning my wife Diana and other family members, please pray that God deliver Mario from the spirit of cancer that he brings us to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus. Thank you.   Johnnie - I ask prayer for the supplication, the uplifting of all the mind body and spirit times show that His will is needed in our lives unconditionally. Things of the world put people into divided houses among family members.
