VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT THE ILLINOIS YOUTH CENTER! JAIL-MAIL from Chaplain Tom,  NEW LIFE CORRECTIONS MINISTRY                   at WAYSIDE CROSS MINISTRIES, AURORA IL        April 30 , 2012   TODAY'S YOUTH - especially children of today's inmates -  WILL FILL TOMORROW'S PRISONS! BIBLE STUDY at the ILLINOIS YOUTH CENTER   Thursdays, 1 - 2:30 PM   Every Thursday, 10 to 20 teenage boys welcome Chaplain Tom into their world to have a Bible Study.  What a honor!   The boys we meet with are all "newcomers" to the Youth Center, and it's a great opportunity to introduce them to the Christian message - the Gospel - that we're so privileged to bring into the facility.   We also get to aquaint all the boys with the availability of our DADS' CLASSES, offered on Monday evenings.   If you like to join the Thursday afternoon BIBLE STUDY, you'd sure be welcomed! MOVIE NIGHTS at the ILLINOIS YOUTH CENTER 1st Thursdays, 5:30 - 8 PM   Once a month, on the first Thursday evening, we have MOVIE NIGHT at the Illinois Youth Center in St. Charles.  We show movies with a Christian message to a hungry crowd of teenaged boys.    Hungry!  As we get to know some of these boys, we can see a spiritual hunger in them. We also take snacks to satisfy their teenaged hunger for food.   We're looking forward to showing COURAGEOUS! It goes well with the DADS' CLASSES we bring to the boys every Monday evening.   If you'd like to join us on MOVIE NIGHT, we'd love to have you along! Please contact Chaplain Tom.  Just your presence is an encouragement to the boys!   DADS' CLASSES at the ILLINOIS YOUTH CENTER Mondays, 6:30 - 8 PM These boys are only teenagers, but many of them are already Dads!  We offer them the same DADS CLASSES we present in the County Jails & State Prisons, but we do "slow down the pace" a bit.  We find the kids have a spiritual hunger, but often need the basics of Christianity explained more fully. Sometimes I liken the experience to "herding cats." SOCPM Student Prayer Request

Greetings awesome prayer warriors;

 

I was out of town in the early part of week and did not go to Kendall or Dixon but in this weeks prayer request I want to add a request on behalf of Dean in the Sheridan Discipleship 101 class. As you may recall his father is terminally ill and according to his doctors has a very short time. Through God's grace arrangements have been made to have Dean's father be brought to Sheridan today, Sunday, for Dean and him to have, unless God intervenes, their last time together. Dean feels his dad has been fighting to hold on for this moment. I ask for prayers for my dear brother and his dad that as hard as this visit may be in many ways that God would make it a joyful memory. That if his dad does not know the Lord that Dean will bare witness to what an awesome God he has come to know during his incarceration. Give praise and thanks to who ever took part in making this visit possible. Thank you

Chris – Would you pray for my family to remain safe while I’m away. Also that my wife gets through this time sober and safe

Paul – Pray for my sons and my court issues, my family, friends, enemies and surrendering my spirit needs a lot of prayer.

Name not Given – I pray that not only me but that all men that are trying to become a better fathers, find the strength and determination to become the father they should be for their children. In Jesus name amen.

Name not given – I would like a prayer to go out to Robyn and Jay to put their faith in the Lord. I want to pray for all the addicts who have no place to go or anybody to love them.

 

Discipleship 101

Robert – Please pray for the men that leave here and that they seek Christ. Also please pray for my family. I specifically have struggled recently with my parole plans and certain misunderstandings. Please pray for this confusion to be overcome by God’s will. At last please pray for me to continue to my walk with God and remain strong with God. His loving servant.

Paul – Please pray for my son Okic, my wife and the rest of the children. In Jesus name I pray Amen.

Anthony – Please pray for my mother Loretta that she remain safe and healthy and that she make it up here this Sunday incident free. For my son Stephen that he continue to make rational decisions, my brother George that he find strength when it comes to fathering my son, for my brother Pete that he get some help for his addiction, for me that I receive the mail I’ve been waiting for, for Scott’s wife Michelle to continue to keep me focused.

Jon – Requesting pray for God’s hand to be on the decision as to where I parole to upon my release 09/21.

Dean – Continued prayer for my father, my Aunt and all of my family, prayers for my sons Michael and Christopher and especially my grandson.

Adam – Dear heavenly Father I would like you to pray for my family and loved ones to keep us together, strong and that everybody is healthy and safe and that they cherish You also. Thank you and God Bless.

Reginald – I want prayer for my family and friends also inmates here in Sheridan Correctional. I pray for Scott and his wife that Scott find someone to help teach so he won’t have to keep taking time from her.

Christopher – Pray I make the right decisions in the current situation I find myself in with my significant other for the past 15 years. Pray that I stick with that decision. Pray we get some kind of good time. Pray that I will receive the understanding and the patience of my Lord Jesus Christ. Pray that I will have the wisdom to understand God’s will in my life. Pray for my Lord and Savior to show me His will for my life. Pray that my daughter is going through a health and happy pregnancy.

Richard – Please pray that I grow stronger in the Word and use it to accomplish the work of Christ in the world> Please also pray that I am able to be a father to my son after my release.

Dominique – Pray for me to get a state loan TV and to get my life in order to be a better man. Thank you and God bless you. (Some may be questioning prayer for a materialistic thing like a TV. Dominique cannot read and has very little if anything to do in down time. In addition to his prayer request please pray I will get a response about getting Dominique an audio Bible which he also very much would desire)

Dads Needed at Menard, East Moline, AND MORE!

 

Men Needed for our "Road Teams" "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel!"                                                                    - Mark 16:15 April 15, 2012 New Life Corrections Ministry Wayside Cross Ministries 215 East New York Street Aurora IL 60505  tbeatty@waysidecross.org On June 4 & 5 - We're scheduled to present the "Dads' Classes" 2-Day Seminar in the Menard Medium Security Unit. Right now, we have only one Dad involved (Chaplain Tom).  We need four or five more Dads! Class materials & training provided!     Then, on July 2 & 3, we're schedule in the East Moline Prison. Right now, we have only two Dads involved.  We need three or four more Dads! "Dads' Classes" are making a difference!   From an inmate:  "The last thing I wanted to hear was another person talking about God, or Jesus, or the Bible.  I went to your Dads' Class, and couldn't wait to go to my second one!  Then, unexpectedly, I was released.  Chaplain Tom, I need to go to the rest of the Dads' Classes!"  (I directed him to the Dads' Classes we offer on Thursday evenings at Wayside Cross in Aurora.) "ROAD TEAMS" TAKE OUR "DADS' CLASSES" TO THE MEN IN THE ILLINOIS' PRISONS!   On our Dads' Classes "Road Teams," we present the same Dads' Classes we have weekly in many local County Jails, but we present them in a 2-Day Seminar.  We  visit Prisons, where weekly classes simply are not an option for us.  Our purpose is to: Bring the Gospel to the inmates in the context of fatherhood, Spark an interest in the men to become better Dads, break the  generational cycle of crime, reduce recidivism, and Spark an interest in the Prison Staff to welcome the year-long Malachi Dads' Program. 84 cents provides a Dads' Classes \"follow-up\"

JAIL-MAIL from Chaplain Tom                                              April 9, 2012     This is an incredible opportunity!   For 84 cents each, we can provide a significant follow-up tool,for each of our Dads' Classes graduates! Hello!   In 1984, Chaplain Tom (then "Bible College Student Tom") and his friend Roy Hensley began a Measure of a Man Bible Study in the Douglas County Jail in Omaha, Nebraska.   The author, Gene Getz, helped us then to obtain donated and discounted books. Chaplain Tom has been using Measure of a Man ever since, to teach men the character qualities of a mature Christian man.   Recently, Dr. Getz spoke at Moody's Founder's Week, and Chaplain Tom had a chance to meet with him.   Now, through a special arrangement with Dr. Getz, we have the opportunity to obtain 1,000 copies of the book Measure of a Man for $1.67 apiece.  (The book normally sells for $8 - $15.)    I want to take advantage of this offer!   It is my goal to obtain these 1,000 books to use them as a follow-up tool for our "Dads' Classes" graduates.  in 2011, we had 270 graduates.
